Compassion International Concept

AR Application

Role: UX Designer
Contribution: Application Design

Overview

Compassion International (CI) offers resources for the Compassion Experience to help users immerse themselves in poverty. This is to better understand the children who need sponsorship through Compassion. With the introducation of an application (app) for the Compassion Experience, there would be potential to integrate augmented reality (AR). Please note that this project is conceptual and the idea is still being processed within Compassion.

The Problem

Potential sponsors of Compassion children, and even those new to Compassion, need a way to identify with poverty and see how children live. The Compassion Experience has offered that in the past, but with the pandemic, the traveling and in-person experience has been on hold. Utilizing a digital space offers the experience for users in their own homes.

The AR Interface

Within the Compassion Experience app, users would be able to enter an AR environment. They can choose their location within their home. From there, users can identify a chil'd home they want to tour and will then enter the AR experience.

This process lets users interact with the home of a real child in poverty while standing in the same room they are interacting with.

Future Outlook

While the Compassion Experience does not offer a dedicated application, only a website, future steps would include an application. As of right now, analyzing requirements for such and app would be the first step. Then content creation and development would ensue.
